Word Hack is a word game app that is currently live in the app store! Blue Label Labs, an app development company wanted to build an app of their own, instead of for their clients. So they came to me interested in a simple idea that didn't need a lot of management or staffing. A word game was perfect! I presented a concept and even mocked up some designs. Yes, this writer isn't afraid to use Photoshop...The idea was a game that was kind of a combination of Wheel of Fortune meets Hangman, with some unique elements sprinkled in. Over about 6 months we designed, iterated, tested, and designed, iterated and tested some more. I came up with hundreds of word puzzles across a bunch of categories. I worked on the UX from the onboarding tutorial to in-game navigation. The game was a hit! At one point, it even reached #3 in the US word game category.

I'm actually not much of a gamer, but I love gaming concepts (which I even taught at Miami Ad School). Word Hack was one of my most rewarding projects to work on. Not only was it fun and successful, but I own a piece too!

Covid was a time when society was turned upside down. Bajibot brought me on board to help them concept and write scripts for their client, Gartner, who was looking to make ten animated videos explaining how their business was transitioning into this new era. First, we worked with the clients to identify the core subjects that we wanted to explore. These included areas such as Gartner conferences, now going virtual, DEI initiatives, the future of work, digital acceleration and more. I wrote scripts, rewrote them and refined them again. The goal with videos like these is to be able to communicate succinctly, keep the viewers attention and hit the main points. Babbling on is no good. We want eyes wide open. You also need to understand the audience, where the videos will be consumed, and the art side so there is simpatico. So I had a voice on the visual conception as well. All in all, the videos turned out great. Here's to hoping Gartner's business is doing well in this new age too!

Workplace by OS33 is a leading cloud security and compliance platform for financial industry professionals. Through their platform, clients enable staff members to do their work safely and securely. Sensitive data is protected at all times and devices are kept compliant in accordance with industry regulations. It's a bit of a complex platform and their UX copy—yawwwn and...huh? So they brought me in as a writer to work with their product team to help revamp the platform from a usability perspective. As part of the product team, I was responsible for UX writing and worked hand in hand with designers and a researcher to whiteboard through user stories and new feature initiatives. Also working with research, the goal is always to refine the product in order to provide the most efficient and enjoyable user experience.

The Workplace platform is robust with all different kinds of functionality, use cases and user personas. Think of a more complicated version of Dropbox. When writing for a B2B platform such as this it is key to consider how many different types of people from different backgrounds and technical proficiencies are using the product, and also, what their most important use cases are so you can really focus on how to make the user experience as simple and focused as possible.
